The Dream Journal – September 2017

Hello!

They say a weed is just a flower growing in the wrong place. If you would like to offer a “right” place for all the weeds that sprouted in our garden this summer, let us know! They’re quite healthy. In fact, some of them are as tall as we are. And if you would take these lovely flowers and find them a “right” home, then perhaps we might find the various veggies we planted there at the beginning of the summer..? Ah well, it was worth a try. At least the kale and daikon radishes are happy and healthy, and some of the bean plants look good, too.

If one duo performing is fun, then four duos performing should be four times as much fun! The Rhode Island Songwriters Association (RISA) is sponsoring the Dynamic Duos Showcase at the Sandywoods Center in Tiverton, RI this coming Friday, September 8th. We’ll share a night of original duo performances with Johnstone & Walcoff, Andy & Judy Daigle, and Lori Diamond & Fred Abatelli. Doors open at 7pm, music starts at 7:30pm. Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door. This great listening room is also BYOB and BYOFood, so pack a picnic dinner and come listen!

We love performing at open mikes around the country, especially ones we have never been to before. And this month, we’re lucky enough to be featuring at a new one for us, at Coffee Coffee in Salem, NH this Saturday, September 9th, from 6-9pm. Come listen, come enjoy fresh roasted organic coffee, come play! Thanks to Aaron Tornberg for inviting us.

On Sunday, September 10th, we’re back at the Acton/Boxboro Farmers Market in West Acton, MA. This is a great little market, with lots of produce vendors, bakers, and high-quality artisans. We love the seating area in front of the performance space! Come shop for dinner ingredients, and have a snack while listening to lots of original songs. The market runs 10am-1pm, we play 11am-12:30pm.

The Serendipity Songwriters Session at the Serendipity Cafe in Maynard, MA continues this month on Wednesday, September 13th, when we are joined by Rick Drost and Bob Ardern. The topic for this month’s songwriters, as chosen by our August audience, is “Fire”. Come listen, enjoy tasty food and fresh baked desserts, and help us choose the song topic for October’s songwriters! Music runs 7:30-9:30pm. Note that Bob Ardern’s visit with us comes during what he is billing as his “Last Chance To See” tour, as he is retiring from touring after this run. If you can’t join us at Serendipity, we highly recommend you check out one of his other Massachusetts shows that week.

Now that we’ve moved to NH, we are starting to check out local markets and venues near our new home. We’re happy to be playing at the Hartland Farmers Market in Hartland, VT on Friday, September 15th. This will be our first visit to the market, which runs 4-7pm. They look to have a great mix of vendors, with farms, crafters and artisans well represented.

Can’t make it out to one of our shows in person? Got an internet connection? Then we’ll bring our show to you! Tuesday, September 19th, we’re doing another Concert Window online concert. Only this time, we’re advertising it in advance… Couldn’t be easier to join us. Just go to http://www.concertwindow.com/danandfaith from 8-9pm Eastern time, turn up the sound on your computer, and enjoy! You can be anywhere in the world and see the show. We’ll most likely be doing it from home this month, but future months we’ll likely do another show from the van — we’ll see.

We’re looking forward to another show at the Farm Cafe in the Toadstool Bookstore in Keene, NH on Thursday, September 21st. We’ll be playing for their Farm Family Happy Hour, from 4-6pm. The cafe has excellent vegetarian and vegan food, and their desserts are amazing! They have special food deals during the happy hour. And the bookstore is cool, too.

It’s been a few years since we last played at the South Street Cafe & Bakery in Bennington, VT, but we’re back there on Friday, September 22nd from 5:30-7:30pm. The cafe has changed hands since we were last there, and we’re very happy that the new owners are supportive of local music. Should be a fun evening!

We close out a very busy month close to home, in Acworth, NH on Saturday, September 23rd, sharing the stage at the Acworth Village Store Pizza Night with our good friends Charles & Ruth Anne Collins. Freshly made pizza from a wood fired pizza oven, small town atmosphere, and good music with good friends — can’t beat that! Music runs 5:30-7:30pm.

Our CDs Seeking and Simple Grace are available from us at our shows, on our website, or you can find them at CD Baby, iTunes and most other online music stores. Seeking has been specially mastered for iTunes, which gives higher fidelity over standard iTunes recordings.
