The Dream Journal – March 2022

Hello!

We spent the tail end of December and all of January camping down the US east coast and across to the Mississippi gulf coast. It was delightful to get out and travel again! We have truly missed being on the road. We were hoping for slightly warmer weather while we were down south, though. We had two or three days in late December where it was warm enough to want air conditioning, but much of the rest of the trip we needed the heat. We even had an ice storm on the Mississippi coast! So we retreated back to New England and spent February hibernating. But the days are getting longer, we’re about to set the clocks ahead again, and we’re seeing occasional signs of spring, so it’s time to come out of hibernation!

South By North Lamar (SxNL) is an annual showcase to celebrate the power of women in music. It’s also a benefit to raise money for Bookwoman Bookstore in Austin, TX. This year, SxNL includes Kristen Ford, Steph Pappas, The Therapy Sisters, Stefanie Fix, Andrea Dawson, Susan Post, Brand New Key, Young & Rusty, Rhiannon Scutt, Jan Seides, Nancy Scott, Mo McMorrow, Laura Zucker, Deann Rene, Judy Painter, Bianca deLeon, Kit Holmes, and us! This online showcase is Friday, March 18th from 7-10pm Eastern time; we’ll play a couple of Faith’s songs around 8:40pm. You can tune in via Zoom, or check back with us closer to the show date for Facebook and YouTube links.

The Midweek Song Swap is back! Wednesday, March 23rd we are joined by East Nashville folk duo Michael & Nell. They are founders of the Shelby Bottom String Band, and created the acclaimed multimedia Joe Hill Road show that has been performed live for colleges, unions and community groups across the US and Canada, both in person and on Zoom. We met them online during the pandemic, and are looking forward to swapping songs with them. Join us on our Facebook page or YouTube channel at 7:30pm Eastern.

We were originally scheduled to play at Stage 33 in Bellows Falls, VT in spring of 2020. Needless to say, that didn’t happen! We postponed it to spring of 2021, figuring the pandemic would be done by then. Ah, optimism! So we pushed out a year in hopes that maybe 2022 would be better. Well, the Covid counts in the Bellows Falls area have dropped nicely, the Stage 33 folks have a reasonable Covid policy that we’re comfortable with, and unless something changes drastically in the next couple of weeks, we’re going to do this! So please join us IN PERSON at Stage 33 in Bellows Falls on Sunday, March 27th at 7pm. A $5 donation is suggested, but nobody will be turned away if they can’t pay. Seating is limited to 40. You can reserve a seat via email to stage33@stage33live.com and pay at the door, or you can pay directly on their website to reserve a seat.

We have posted a video of Dan’s song, Where Are You Now, on our Patreon page. The song tells the story of young lovers separated by war. The means of communication have changed since the Civil War, but the story is eternal. Today, young fathers in Ukraine are saying goodbye to their families, and taking up arms to fight for the freedom of their homeland. Would that someday such stories would be reflections only of the past.  The video is accessible even if you’re not on Patreon, but we hope you’ll consider becoming patrons.  We’ll be adding new Patreon content regularly.

Our albums Then and Now, Seeking, and Simple Grace are available from us on our website, through Bandcamp, or you can find them at iTunes and most other online music stores. Our music is also available streaming on Spotify and Apple Music.

As always, you can find additional schedule information on our website. For additional content, follow us on Patreon. For more frequent news updates and information, check out our Facebook fan page and follow us on Twitter (@danandfaith).

Our hearts go out to the citizens of Ukraine as they fight to keep their country free, and to the citizens of Russia that have stepped up to protest against their government.
