The Dream Journal – August 2020

Hello!

It’s summer squash season! That time of year when every farmers market and farm stand is brimming with crookneck and pattypan. When everyone in New England makes sure to lock their cars on the street and in the parking lot for fear of coming back to a carful of zucchini. And when every meal has some variant on sautéed, grilled, baked, or blended squash. In other words, for us vegan foodies, it’s a wonderful time of the year!

Speaking of food, we are definitely missing our friends at Serendipity Cafe in Maynard, MA. But the Serendipity Songwriter Showcase is continuing online! Just head to our Facebook page or our YouTube channel at 7:30pm ET this Wednesday, August 12th when we will be joined by John Ferullo and Shanna In A Dress. The beauty of doing shows online is that Shanna can join us from her home in Colorado! Our theme for this month’s show, as suggested by a member of our June audience, is “Change”. Tune in, and be ready to post song ideas for our next showcase. And if you’re in the neighborhood of Maynard, MA, stop by Serendipity Cafe, pick up takeout, and give our best to Laura & Johnny.

We’re having fun with our midweek song swaps! It’s an opportunity to hang out with a friend for an hour or so, chat a bit, and share some music with each other. On Wednesday, August 19th, we’ll be joined by Tom Smith, one of the finest songwriters in New England, and one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. Come hang out with Tom and us on Facebook Live or YouTube Live at 7:30pm ET!

The following week, Wednesday, August 26th, we’ll do another midweek song swap, this time with Rik Palieri. Rik’s quite the storyteller, and a doggone good banjo player to boot! Who knows, he might even pull out his Polish bagpipes. Join us at 7:30pm ET on Facebook Live or YouTube Live.

You’ll note that we’ve started doing our streaming to YouTube in addition to Facebook. Our YouTube channel could use a little love. If you subscribe, you can get notifications when we have new content, or when we’re going live. Just login to YouTube, head to our channel, and click “Subscribe”. While you’re there, check out our videos!

Our albums Then and Now, Seeking, and Simple Grace are available from us on our website, or you can find them at iTunes and most other online music stores.  Our music is also available streaming on Spotify and Apple Music.

As always, you can find additional schedule information on our website. For additional content, follow us on Patreon. For more frequent news updates and information, check out our Facebook fan page and follow us on Twitter (@danandfaith).

There are a lot of things we’re missing in this odd time, especially hugging friends. Reach out to friends, neighbors, or relatives you know are living alone, and offer up a socially-distanced picnic, a video chat, or even an old-fashioned phone call. We humans are social animals!
