Hello!
Mother Nature is pretty amusing sometimes. She has us running around in shorts and T-shirts for a week, and then bundled up in turtlenecks and sweaters a day later. Sometimes she throws one or two more T-shirt days at us. Such is autumn in New England! The leaves were already showing hints of yellow a few weeks ago, and now the reds are popping in. The turkey poults are almost as big as their mamas, and just as entertaining.
Summer farmers markets are winding down, but there are still opportunities to get great fall produce and crafts from local vendors if you know where to look. We’ll be looking at the Collinsville Farmers Market in Collinsville, CT (a little corner of Canton, CT) this coming Sunday, October 7th. This is a hopping market, with great vendors and a good crowd of shoppers. We’re looking forward to singing with the rooster named Joe Cocker (seriously, that’s his name!) whose farmer always sets up by the musicians. Joe loves to join in! The market runs 10am-1pm, we’ll be playing 10:30am-12:30pm. Stop by and listen!
We’re back with the Serendipity Songwriters Sessions at Serendipity Cafe in Maynard, MA on Wednesday, October 10th. Our guest songwriters this month are Ralph DeFlorio and Serendipity’s own Laura Hobson. The theme, chosen by a previous month’s audience, is “The Benefit Of The Doubt.” Join us for a great meal, tasty dessert, and an evening of amazing original music. Music runs 7:30-9:30pm.
One of the cooler coffeehouses in the New England area is the
Hearing Room in
Lowell, MA. On
Sunday, October 14th, the
Mushroom Musicians Mini Music Melee is being held as a fundraiser for the Hearing Room. Over 20 different musical acts
(including us!) will be performing from
2-6pm, all to help support this wonderful little music venue. Stop by, have coffee & popcorn, enjoy an afternoon of great music and contribute to a good cause.
It’s been a while since we’ve done an online Concert Window concert. A busy summer, combined with life throwing us a curve ball or two, and suddenly it’s fall. A perfect time of year to curl up on the couch with a cup of hot mulled cider and enjoy some good music without having to bundle up and go outside. If you’re on a PC, you can even interact with us via the online app. We’ll be playing on Tuesday, October 16th from 8-9pm eastern time. We would especially love to have folks in other timezones listen in!
For September 11th, we posted Dan’s song, Memories Of You, written in honor of the loved ones left behind after the events of September 11th, 2001. We dedicate it to the memory of our friend and scuba instructor, Chuck Jones, who was lost that day, and to his surviving family. We sing, and we remember.
