The Dream Journal – July 2018

Hello!

We’re just coming to the end of the first week of really hazy, hot and humid weather of the summer. Hard to believe that we actually had the heat on in the house the week before, and now we’re melting! But we’ve got tomatoes, peppers and zucchini that might actually ripen in the next week or so, and we’ve just picked a quart of fresh black raspberries from our back yard. Nothing finer than fresh berries from your own berry bushes! Some may become sorbet, but we’ll eat the first round as plain berries. Mmmm! Definite comfort food.

There are certain performance spaces that have a warm, welcoming vibe to them. The Hearing Room in Lowell, MA is one of those spaces. We’re happy to be headed there this Friday, July 6th for Mushroom Musicians Presents: Songwriters In The Round, and even happier to be sharing the evening with Ruth Hill. We met Ruth last winter, and fell in love with her brilliant songwriting. We’ll be swapping songs with her starting at 8pm.

A couple of years before we moved from Bolton, MA, the Bolton Conservation Trust tore down an old gas station and turned the site into a beautiful town common. Now that the Bolton Town Common has been established, the Parks and Recreation Commission is starting up a new summer concert series. We are honored to be kicking off the series this coming Sunday, July 8th, from 5-7pm. Bring a picnic dinner, a blanket or lawn chairs, and enjoy a summer evening of music!

The next Serendipity Songwriter Session at the Serendipity Cafe in Maynard, MA is Wednesday, July 11th. The guest songwriters this month are Rachel Marie and Morgan Johnston, and Beth DeSombre is guest hosting. The theme for this month’s session, chosen by June’s audience, is “Torn in twain”. Have dinner and dessert, enjoy some wonderful original music, and help choose the theme for August’s songwriters! Music runs 7:30-9:30pm.

Apologies to folks who were looking for our online Concert Window concert last month. Due to circumstances beyond our control, we had to cancel. But we’re back this month on Tuesday, July 17th. Bring up http://www.concertwindow.com/danandfaith from anywhere with internet access and invite us into your living room. Curl up with a frosty beverage and a snack, make yourself comfortable, and listen in! We play 8-9pm Eastern time.

After a month and a half of gigs around home in New England, we’re again headed west. We start the western tour at Nickel City Frets in Akron, NY on Thursday, July 19th for the Nickel City Sessions. We’ll be playing in the round starting at 7pm with Andrew Dunn, Kate Callahan, and guest host Tom Callahan (no relation to Kate). Thanks to Davey O. for inviting us to take part in this series!

A few years back, we did an in-the-round show called “Dueling Duos” with our good friends Andina & Rich (Sandy Andina and Stephen Lee Rich) in Steve’s home town of Madison, WI. We had so much fun with it, we decided to do it again, only this time we’re headed to Sandy’s home town of Chicago, IL. Join us Sunday, July 22nd at Uncommon Ground’s Lakeview location from 7-9pm. Combine two duos for an in-the-round, attempting to follow one another thematically, and you get a spontaneous, fun collaboration.

Our travel van is made by Winnebago. Once a year, a group of 2000 Winnebago RVs (and their owners) get together in a field in Forest City, IA for the Winnebago Grand National Rally (GNR). This year, we are honored to play in the special events tent at the rally. If you’re a Winnebago owner, and will be at GNR, stop by the special events tent on Thursday, July 26th from 2-3:30pm, and let us entertain you.  And swing by the Winnie-B’s row and say hello!

Our CDs Seeking and Simple Grace are available from us at our shows, on our website, or you can find them at CD Baby, iTunes and most other online music stores.

As always, you can find additional schedule information on our website, https://www.danandfaith.com. For more frequent news updates and information, check out our Facebook fan page and follow us on Twitter (@danandfaith).

There’s lots of good local music out there if you look for it. It’s worth looking for!
