My name is George, no one knows
But I feel it in my heart where I know that it won’t show
I face the world, it cannot see
Even those who love me, they look but they don’t see
They just see Emily

My name is George, I must not tell
Especially my father; my life would go to hell
I’d be disowned, tossed out the door
And so I keep pretending, knowing in my core
I’m not Emily

I never felt right as a girl
That’s not who I am
Maybe when I leave for college
Then I’ll be free to be me

His name is George; I didn’t know
I found it in a note he left that said he had to go
My little girl is now my son
It takes some getting used to, but I’m telling everyone
He’s George, not Emily

I love you, George. I always will
There is nothing that can change that…

You called me George! I love you, Dad
I thought that you would hate me
