The Dream Journal – April 2026

Hello!

It looks and sounds like spring might finally be here! The robins all showed up the day we got our first bare patch of lawn among the snow drifts, and now we have a huge flock of very fat robins running around our snow-free yard. The male cardinals are singing their hearts out in search of mates, and the first redwing blackbird arrived this morning. We heard our very first spring peeper in the neighbor’s pond yesterday, and today the frogs over there are deafening. Papa turkey is strutting around his turkey harem in full tail feather display as the flock wanders through the hayfield. There’s a reddish tinge to the tips of the tree branches in the woods around us, which means they’re waking up, too. After all the winter’s snow and bitter cold, spring is always a treat!

Our friend Aaron Tornberg, director of One Broadway Collaborative, is having a CD release party at The Burren in Somerville, MA on Thursday, April 9th. Aaron has invited a bunch of us — The Lied To’s, Beth DeSombre, Conor Hennessy, John David Short, Taina, and us — to join him for the evening and help him celebrate the release of “Good Vibes on Thin Ice” with, as he describes it, a CD release in the round – a celebration of music and community. He has done a lot for the music community in the eastern MA/southern NH area over the years, and we’re happy to help him celebrate his new release. The show is in the Burren Back Room, and starts at 7pm. Tickets are $20 in advance (link here), $25 at the door.

We’re delighted to be playing a house concert at Under The Maple in Brattleboro, VT on Sunday, April 12th at 4pm. A house concert is exactly what it sounds like — a concert in a private home. The good people at Under The Maple host folk and traditional music performers throughout the year, either in their back yard under a large maple tree (hence the name) in good weather during the summer, or indoors in their home. It’s a treat to be able to play a house concert show this close to home! Reservations are REQUIRED, so please send an email to BrattleboroHouseConcerts@gmail.com to reserve a seat. Once you’ve reserved, you’ll receive the full address and any other details (parking, etc.) from them. They suggest a donation of $20-$30 at the door, but any amount is welcome. 100% of the money received goes to the artists.

With warmer weather here, this means we’re getting close to porch season, where we can hang out on our porch at sunset! Faith’s song Twilight Time In The Meadow gives you a taste of what we’re looking forward to. Give it a listen!

Our albums Who We Are, Then and Now, Seeking, and Simple Grace are available from us at shows and on our website, through Bandcamp, or you can find them at iTunes and most other online music stores. Our music is also available streaming on Spotify and Apple Music.

Is there a local open mic near you? Whether or not you play, it’s a great opportunity to meet local musicians and hear some amazing music! Some of the best communities we’ve been part of have been centered around an open mic. Check it out!
