The Dream Journal – October 2025

Hello!

Mother Nature teased us with a frost advisory a week ago, so we did a quick harvest of shishito, jalapeño, and poblano hot peppers, green bell peppers, and what few pickling cucumbers were left. We started out the summer struggling to get the pepper plants to blossom, and they stayed fairly small for a long time until we fed them. Apparently if you feed pepper plants, they show their appreciation by blossoming and bursting with peppers! It seems pepper plants are much like the human soul, which needs to be fed from time to time for it to flourish. We feed our souls with travel and sharing music!

Our souls are feeling well fed from our trip to Portsmouth, NH this past Saturday to play Faith’s song Deep Cold Sea at the Portsmouth Maritime Folk Festival.  Such an honor to have it chosen as the winning song in their songwriting contest!  We’re grateful to the judges, and to the appreciative audience at the North Church.

We start our journey this month on Sunday, October 5th in Morris, NY at the Gatehouse Coffee Shop & Mercantile. This delightful cafe offers sandwiches, soups, coffee and tea, and local artisans’ wares. The leaves should be turning nicely by then! Come out to see the foliage, enjoy lunch and some music. We’ll be playing 1-3pm.

Folknet, northeast Ohio’s folk, traditional music, and dance society, has been hosting music events and concerts in the Cleveland area for over 30 years. They’re hosting us at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Beachwood, OH on Saturday, October 11th as part of their Folknet Concert Series. Some big names in the folk world have played this series over the years, so this is quite an honor! Deborah Wuitowicz will be opening. Music runs 7-9pm. Admission is $15, or pay as you’re able. Folknet member discounts are available.

We’ll be closing out our month at the Folk Alliance Region Midwest (FARM) conference in Lisle, IL from Thursday, October 23rd through Sunday, October 26th. We’ll be hosting the opening and closing song circles on Thursday afternoon and Sunday respectively, as well as playing in several late night showcases throughout the weekend. If you’ll be there, give us a shout! We’d love to touch base.

This coming Friday, October 3rd, is Bandcamp Friday. That’s when Bandcamp waives their revenue share on music purchases and passes those funds directly to artists and labels. We’re good with your picking up our music from Bandcamp on any day, but we appreciate the bit more we get on Bandcamp Fridays. Now that we’re into October, the holidays are coming up quickly! If you’re looking for a gift for those hard-to-shop-for folks, music is always a great option.  Check out our Bandcamp page!

Our albums Who We Are, Then and Now, Seeking, and Simple Grace are available from us at shows and on our website, through Bandcamp, or you can find them at iTunes and most other online music stores. Our music is also available streaming on Spotify and Apple Music.

As always, you can find additional schedule information on our website. For additional content, follow us on Patreon. For more frequent news updates and information, check out our Facebook fan page.

We recommend you feed your soul with live local music!
